Attorney John M. Wood was appointed to serve as a Judge on the Rock County Circuit Court by Governor Scott Walker on July 25th, 2016, to replace retiring Judge Richard T. Werner.
Governor Walker says Attorney Wood has “served the Rock County community in different ways for many years” and he is “confident that service will continue as a judge who faithfully applies the rule of law.”
Attorney Wood is a Rock County, WI native who graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science & Law. He then went on to receive his Juris Doctorate degree in 1996 from the Hamline University School of Law.
In 2002, Attorney Wood became a partner at Nowlan & Mouat LLP, in Janesville, WI, where he has practiced business law, civil litigation, estate planning, family law, and real estate law. He is also a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), Rock County Bar Association, and the State Bar of Wisconsin.
Throughout his career, Attorney Wood has earned a reputation in the Rock County community for his integrity, practical problem-solving, and the way he educates clients about how the law impacts them personally and professionally, so they can make the best decision.
According to State Senator Stephen Nass, “Wood also brings to the bench tremendous dedication for service to the people of Rock County and Wisconsin.”
Attorney Wood lives with his wife, Karen, in Janesville, WI.
We wish John the best as he ventures into this new chapter.
